This is The Opposite Locker - Wayback Wednesdays where we try and sort out the cool from the square. This is a discussion system detailing how cool an older car was, not how fast, fun, or frivolous it may have been, but how well it looks in the cat's pajamas.
But, you may be asking, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Wayback Wednesdays are like the normal !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , save for the advanced age of the cars on the block. For this series of posts, try and perceive the vehicle as if you were living in the time period of the car's release, and then base your vote upon its coolness, taking into consideration the evolution of culture.
New Kids On The Block - Classic Muscle
The Ford Mustang was initially marketed toward the family man who wanted something better than his old man's sedan. The Camaro then came to join the Mustang in the new marketspace and steal some of its thunder. Also, the Charger was in there somewhere...
The Big Question : where these cars the cat's pajamas when they came out or the dog's business attire?

Even on the wrong team, I'd still root root root. Not a shame to be had.

The Charger wasn't exactly marketed to the family man.

You could say she rescued Princess Peach before the Mario brothers even got there.

If you can tell a story about where the car has been before you owned it, it is cool. Barring that, a Mustang is overplayed, 1st gen Camaro is downright ugly, Charger only when all black, looking menacing like the Bullitt Charger. Dukes of Hazzard Charger is just terrible.
Also, you can't ever do a gentle launch in a black Charger. Driving a brawny, menacing musclecar sensibly and gently is against the nature of the car, not to mention terrible loss of form and therefore seriously uncool.

Boooo! The '69 Camaro is infinitely more beautiful than the ugly '67!

I don't know. I like the single headlights more than the doubles.

My dad has a 68 Charger. Even after restoration it squeaks and rattles. I call it the MOPAR symphony. Also, 68 was not the first year for the Charger like 64 and 67 were the first years for the Mustang and Camaro. Also see here.

The '69 also got some changes to the body panels to make it look more aggressive (as well as wider). I think this facelift really enters it into Frigid territory.

All three of these cars deserve to be in the Opposite Locker.
Of the three, though, my favorite has always been the Camaro of this vintage, purely due to sentimentality: a friend of my mother had one, and at the tender age of 17 I was allowed to take it for a spin now and again. Was a beautiful 1969 blue convertible with the original white interior and 3 speed auto (it was, after all, a ladies' car, she'd had it since new).
Shoulda bought it off her. I wonder if she still has it - her and my mom lost touch - but probably not: it was her DD, and gas prices being what they are, only an enthusiast could justify that cost.

Now this is cool advertising ;-). Yeah, its probably sexist and inappropriats by todays standards, but I have to admit its pretty damn cool. It says something about the passion and excitement we had for cars back then.
